We first started recording ourselves with our single, “Hatchet”, then “Move Along”, “Simple Days”, “Swim or Die”, “Boom Boom”, & our most recent release has been, “Keeper Brown”. Before these songs, we released our 9-song album, WILSHIRE ROYALE, which was recorded in Soularium, a studio in Alpine, Utah.
When we first started releasing music in 2016, we recorded our music chronologically, basically. We would record the songs that were the oldest first, thinking that this would give us time to shape the newer songs until they were recorded.
Recently, feel as though we have been coming closer & closer to the “sound” we have wanted to have with our last three singles, & we think this is because we have set aside the idea that our songs need to be released chronologically.
In fact, it has helped us filter through which songs we actually want to deem “our sound”. It has also aided us in going with the “flow” & feeling which songs should be released.
We feel more inspired to write songs knowing that they could be recorded next instead of thinking they are on a long waitlist of other songs that need to get recorded.
We feel somewhat unleashed.
We’ve written 2 songs recently that are ready to be recorded & that we’re really proud of. They’re next. We tried recording, “We Got To Go” recently & just feel like we want to pitch it to another artist. We feel this way about many of our songs.
We have so many beginnings of new songs that it seems really overwhelming to keep up with. We hope that in the future we’ll be able to waltz into a studio & crank 4 or 5 tracks out at a time.
We do, however, feel fortunate to love Songwriting so much that our problem is having too many songs. We feel that blessing & it gives us confidence. We’re also thankful for the knowledge to be able to record ourselves.
Here’s to hoping we have a new song out to you soon!
We're Oskar & Julia Buie!
